- Look at a map of the tectonic plates, this is a quake where you'd rarely expect one. The Wikinews IRC/Live chat channel has a program posts the USGS alerts for all quakes. It ignores everything under 5.0. --Brian McNeil / talk 16:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe news maybe not. Would have been news here in Buffalo though. It would have been one I felt. So I guess depending on where you live and how often, or not earthquakes occur there, as to whether its news or not. 2.8 in Los Angeles or other parts of California would not be news IMO. Ugh, I'm from Ontario and I've slept through a magnitude 4. Still, sadly, I'm torn between thinking this 'news' is horribly uninteresting and thinking it's legitimate just because of oddity.
