- It was good if you were young enough to not notice the really crap f/x and the dumb and cheesy story premise that water is rare in the universe. - You'll get no argument from me that the effects for Doctor Who were cheap - and often tacky. What carried it was good storytelling, often by well-known British SciFi writers. The premise of "coming to steal our water" that V relied on was totally unscientific. Good SciFi builds on established science, and that dictates that most solar systems will be like ours in that they have comets - mostly water. Look at water use here, it gets recycled through the ground, systems we've built, and the planet's ecosystem in general. Run a glass of water out of your tap, what you're likely to drink could - by some freak of circumstance - be the same water molecules some guy 2000 years ago called Jebus drank. No alien society could grow to an interstellar technological level if they used water once, or did not have enough available to support a population similar to our own. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:05, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
