edit@Pi zero: could this category be renamed to Category:Satish Dhawan Space Centre? The current name is that of the island it is located on rather than the facility that launches the spacecraft. Green Giant (talk) 11:27, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Green Giant: This is a category for the place, rather than specifically for the space centre located at that place. It seems strange to remove the category for the place, while adding a category for a facility located there; it would seem the place is category-worthy if there's something there that's category-worthy. --Pi zero (talk) 12:14, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Pi zero: I might be wrong but I think it's a metonym, because the space centre appears to occupy or use the whole island. It's highly likely that articles will be referring to the space centre even if they say "Sriharikota". I'd suggest a separate category for the space centre but it would be a duplicate of this category with five relevant articles. Green Giant (talk) 12:37, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Green Giant: Looking over the en.wp article, it sounds as if the odds are low, per unit time, of our having news related to the island but not the space centre, although the island is a proper superset of the centre. In a situation like that, where one is a superset but they're very close, there is some precedent for a single category covering the superset. (Our most extreme example of such overloading, to my recollection, is Category:Guantanamo Bay.)
There would be one advantage to having separate categories for both, which is that, due to the clunky design of the Wikidata cross-project-linkage system, separate categories is the only way to elicit automatic sister linkages from separate Wikipedia articles on the two. --Pi zero (talk) 13:47, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
