An avalanche on route 40 has buried many cars and caused other cars to be pushed over the edge of the expressway just outside of Denver, Colorado.

Strong storms hit the Southeastern part of the United States on Friday. Crews are currently working to restore power to the area. At the moment there are 2 reports of fatalities. Tornadoes were reported in South Carolina, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Canada

The inflatable roof covering BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada was intentionally collapsed in a "controlled deflation" on Friday after a section of the dome was ripped open. Windy weather conditions are blamed for the damage.

Egypt

Egypt intends to launch an international initiative to fight misuse of the internet. This statement was made by Egypt's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Abdel Aziz Seif el-Nasr. The idea lies in implementing a long-term international cooperation plan that concerns suppressing the activities of criminals and other groups that use World Wide Web for the promotion of their interests.

United States

An ethical controversy has surged in the United States and elsewhere around nine-year-old Ashley X. The disabled girl was operated upon at the request of her parents, to prevent her from growing, menstruating and developing breasts. The parents, who wish to remain anonymous, explain their situation on a blog entitled The "Ashley Treatment". There have been over 1000 reactions on the blog so far.
