Yallourn North, Victoria, Australia — Traralgon defeated Moe at Yallourn North this past Saturday in the opening round of the Gippsland Football League season.

In other round one matches, Wonthaggi defeated Leongatha, Maffra played Drouin and Morwell played Warragul.
The Gippsland Football League (officially the Gippsland League, GL) is the only major league in Gippsland according to the Victorian Country Football, the governing body for Australian rules football in regional Victoria, Australia.
At the league's annual general meeting in December, it changed it's name from the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League.
In their last encounter, the 2009 second (major) semi final, Traralgon defeated Moe by 32 points.

Moe kicked the first two goals only to relinquish the lead half way through the first quarter. They never regained it.

Fans turned out despite local papers reporting the game to be scheduled the day after. A communication error from the league was the cause.

Traralgon lead at each break. 4-1 25 to 2-2 14 at the end of the first quarter, 8-4 52 to 5-4 34 at half time, and 11-8 74 to 8-5 53 at the end of the third quarter. .
