Ari scored in the 20th minute to only to be sent off in the 39th minute and to see Zenit St. Petersburg equalize in the 43th minute. Both teams had their chances up to the red card. However, at this point, AZ Alkmaar decided to change tactics and to avoid giving up anymore goals after Zenit St. Petersburg equalized.
