Shorts does not work now-a-days -- it is a simple way to get-around of writing a good comprehensive article, and it does not promote any wish to dive in-deep. Neither the headline nor the content is informative enough. It is a way to escape WN:Length and one of the bad ways of news reporting. An article with just lede is not sufficient; putting three or more unrelated articles is definitely a horrible idea; plus it closes window of potential full length story coverage. So, I suggest we discourage, and if possible, ban Shorts from present era Wikinews; as it encourages lazy writing.

I disagree with your reasoning. Wikinews Shorts was a very good thing, in my opinion. If anything, it does cause people to look more into the subject. The good thing about Shorts was it got published the day it happened. It never prevented full-length articles from being developed. In fact, we used to put in a link in the shorts when we had a full article so the readers could see the full story. There is no reason for a ban. However, the possibility of a Wikinews Shorts getting published with today's review requirement is minimal.
I am closing this flag, because I don't see any needed course of action. Just let it be. If Wikinews grows in the future, there's no reason it couldn't be used as a summary of the day's top news. --SVTCobra 08:12, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Here's a random one which I think looks pretty good for being nine years old: Wikinews Shorts: January 13, 2009. --SVTCobra 08:36, 10 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
