Widening participation
editSince we've taken to showcasing FAs on Facebook, and are getting positive results from doing so, how's about trying to encourage people who may not write on/for Wikinews to take part in discussions on FA candidates?
Provided they have an account and give a good support/oppose rational I see no reason why this shouldn't be a way to increase participation.
Might need to hammer out the criteria a little, make them more-readily understood; but, unless it turns into a trollfest, I see minimal risks because all the articles we're talking about are already archived. --Brian McNeil / talk 23:51, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, okay for a trial run, but could be subject to socking, like anything else, i guess, just keep an eye on it... -- Cirt (talk) 03:56, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- I took potential socking as a given risk. I'm a little fried from working on my piece about the 2012 World Economic Forum, but will put drafting an introduction to the criteria for "outsiders" on my to-do list. --Brian McNeil / talk 05:16, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- Back in the day even IPs used to pitch in and vote. So long as closing is done carefuly... Tampering is usually pretty clear. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 00:01, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Journalism students?
editHow do people feel about approaching our student contributors (via lecturers) to provide feedback on candidates? Might be a worthwhile class exercise to get them thinking about what does or does not make a really great piece of reporting. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 20:59, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
