<languages />

Hello all,

The ceremony of the 2021 Wikimedia Coolest Tool Award will take place virtually on Friday 14 January 2022, 17:00 UTC.

This award is highlighting software tools that have been nominated by contributors to the Wikimedia projects. The ceremony will be a nice moment to show appreciation to our tool developers and maybe discover new tools!

Just noticed during a preview the following warning:

Warning: This page calls Template:Infobox which causes a template loop (an infinite recursive call).

Perhaps the en.WN version of this template is not current with upstream? - Amgine | t 15:52, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing the same warning. Where did you see this? —Justin (koavf)TCM 21:42, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Whilst making this edit, when selecting the preview option it appears like this (I use a non-standard mediawiki theme.) - Amgine | t 23:05, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I do see it now. This is a new development, but the template hasn't been edited in 1.5 years. Hm. It doesn't seem to be causing any problems, tho, does it? —Justin (koavf)TCM 00:18, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not to me, personally, no. But as long as I have you on the line here, metaphorically speaking, does en.WN have a simple collapsing box template? I would like to display a machine translation of a source article in a non-english language. - Amgine | t 00:23, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not that I can recall. —Justin (koavf)TCM 00:26, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This loop has been there for a while. I guess we need a coder to work out where it is going wrong but as it doesn’t affect things openly, it seems to have been left on the back burner. @Amgine: perhaps {{hidden}} might work? [24Cr][talk] 07:50, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Last two days for submitting proposals

Tomorrow is the last day for submitting proposals for the Community Wishlist Survey 2022.

Also, everyone is welcome to translate, promote, and discuss proposals. SGrabarczuk (WMF) (talk) 14:45, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter is broken, I know

Eventually someone may wander in and note that @wikinews lost its mind and started reposting the same 1 or 2 articles over and over again. I'm aware of the issue and trying to track down what broke. It's been running in its current form (using IFTTT) since 2017 and I'm not aware of anything that has changed. However it looks like something in early January changed with either the RSS feed or how IFTTT parses it. It's nice to have a simple free service to use for this very very simple task, but if it continues to be a derp, I'll look for or write something new. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 02:01, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
