Publishing proposal review

Some of you might be aware that we had a short article trial from February 1 to April 30, during which the minimum length of publishable articles was reduced to 100 words. You can read more at WN:Water cooler/proposals/archives/2022/January. The articles tagged as such can be found at Category:Short article trial.
During this time (Feb 1 - Apr 30) we published 71 articles in total. Of these, 17 articles fit the short article criteria. That’s about 23.9% of the 71 articles that were published.
Since the trial ended on April 30, I suggest we review it and decide whether to keep the minimum length at 100 words or restore the previous requirements. Please indicate below if you {{support}} making the trial a permanent feature or if you {{oppose}} it and want to return to the previous rules.
I suggest this review can be closed in two weeks time i.e. not before May 18, 2022. In the meantime we will leave the trial running and allow further short articles to be added. [24Cr][talk] 23:38, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

- Support keeping the minimum length permanently at 100 words. I believe we would have only published 54 articles in that time period and the additional 17 articles have increased participation where it was previously restricted. [24Cr][talk] 23:38, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Support In principle I support this.
- Support Nothing wrong with the changes for now. --George Ho (talk) 05:22, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Along with I would prefer to have more options like monthly magazine where featured stories of the month would get space; besides a news source base DYK without insisting for entire article for such DYKs the way en WP insists. And also some scope for including News reporter's own analysis plus brief editorial/reviewer's comment on news story with a separate (colored) text boxes, that can help include OR for giving background and context more properly.
- @Cromium: On side note: Is there any rough idea if any first time news story writers benefited from 100 word criteria.

- @Bookku: I’m currently very busy in real life and haven’t had a chance to gather more statistics. I’ll try to get some sorted for this weekend. [24Cr][talk] 17:23, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Be and do at ease as time permits. I am also travelling and I can understand it's just general discussion no hurry . Cheers and warm regards Bookku (talk) 17:28, 17 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

- The consensus appears to be that the trial was a success. Since there is no opposition expressed, the change will become permanent. [24Cr][talk] 23:46, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
