What is the permalink link in the toolbox for? edit

What is the permalink link in the toolbox for? When you click it it just goes to an older version of the article. What is the point of / usefulness of that? Bawolff 01:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, hadnt oticed that. I'm investigating the issue as we speak. -- NGerda 01:21, August 24, 2005 (UTC)
It is also for external links, people can link to their a version without they know to be vandalism free. --Cspurrier 02:33, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
And for Wikipedia etc articles it's useful for links in essays etc. Not just for vandalism free but in an academic context, you want to link to the version you viewed, without any edits, corrections etc.
Thanks. Bawolff 02:36, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Login problems edit

I forgot my username, so how can I have it sent to my email address? When I click "Mail me a new password," it says "You have not specified a valid user name." -- 71.109.220.68 20:34, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you've forgotten your username, there's nothing that we can really do for you... I suggest signing up with another username. -- IlyaHaykinson 05:42, August 29, 2005 (UTC)
Is it possible to somehow search the database for the email address and then dispatch a new password to the email address? --Chiacomo (talk) 05:43, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Do you remeber any articles you edited with your username? maybe you can look through the history and see if a username pops out at you. Bawolff 20:55, 30 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't used Wikinews for a long time, so I forgot what articles I edited. --71.109.220.68 00:00, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
