What is the permalink link in the toolbox for? edit

What is the permalink link in the toolbox for? When you click it it just goes to an older version of the article. What is the point of / usefulness of that? Bawolff 01:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's to preserve the history page, for use of some vandals to show proof, etc. - can be helpful in some circumstances. --Mrmiscellanious 01:22, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

And for Wikipedia etc articles it's useful for links in essays etc. Not just for vandalism free but in an academic context, you want to link to the version you viewed, without any edits, corrections etc.

Login problems edit
