About this orientation

The program has been divided into four key modules, each sharing a piece of the Wikipedia experience:

1 Core: This module discusses the core policies and guidelines that govern getting an article published on Wikinews.

2 News writing: This module covers the skills needed to contribute to Wikinews, and how to help students learn them. Since submitting articles on Wikinews requires interacting with reviewers and other community members, this module also covers the reviewing process and how students should interact with reviewers.

3 Classroom: Key to successful assignments will be how to integrate Wikinews into the classroom. This module will walk you through a sample syllabus. It can be used as a starting point for Wikinews assignments, or taken in bits and pieces to adapt to specific course and its learning objectives.

4 Course pages: This module shows you how to actually get started: how to set up a course page and use it to keep track of what your students are doing on Wikinews.
