Utah dance party broken up by police
About 90 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies broke up what they said was a rave party on public and private property in the Diamond Fork area of Spanish Fork canyon, an hour outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday. Armed with assault rifles and tear gas, the police used dogs to sweep the crowd for narcotics. The scale of the police response was apparently due to the ineffectiveness of a smaller force used in the previous "Sequence Five" rave.

One million pilgrims attend open-air mass with Pope
The Catholic World Youth Day 2005 concluded yesterday with an open-air mass by Pope Benedict XVI at the Marienfeld, about 15 km west of Cologne.

Speaking to some one million pilgrims from about 200 countries the Pope called for a "return to God". In his sermon, he condemned the commercialisation of faith and said that -quote- "Religion constructed on a 'do-it-yourself' basis cannot ultimately help us".

The 109 ton vehicle was flown back from Edwards Airforce Base (AFB) in California on top of a modified Boeing 747 known as the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. The 3,591 km journey across the United States took 2 days and cost about one million dollars.
