Question from GW_Simulations: There has recently been some controversy on the English Wikipedia about the extent of ArbCom's power and influence. Do you feel that it is ever ArbCom's place to dictate policies, even against community consensus, or just to make rulings on individual cases, on a case-by-case basis? I am asking this question to all candidates --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk11:22, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ArbCom should not dictate policy, it isn't really their job. I've not followed the disputes over on Wikipedia though. However, ArbCom could end up making a decision that surprised the community and perhaps went against what many contributors expected. This is due to private data being available to the committee (eg CheckUser). --Brian McNeil / talk13:17, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
