licensing edit

pls do not add {{PD-article}} to articles without discussing it with other editors. as you might know, Wikinews licenses its articles under CC-A. as articles are written collaboratively, it is not a good idea for individual contributors to license articles they contribute to - wikinews articles are not owned by one or more contributors. you can achieve more or less the same result by noting on your user page that you license your edits under whatever license you wish. and of course, you are free to publish your contributions (not edited by other contributors) elsewhere with licenses you like. –Doldrums(talk) 03:46, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

i have absolutely no problem with you choosing to license your contributions under whatever license you wish. but tagging articles you contribute to is not the way to do it - by doing so, you're telling other editors who wish to work on the article to either agree with your choice, leave the article alone or delete your choice of licensing. that is not conducive to a good collaborative environment. as i've mentioned before, you can achieve exactly what you wish to achieve (release your contributions in the public domain) by agreeing to release your contributions to PD by placing a notice to that effect on your user page rather than the articles. you can also maintain a list of articles to which only you've contributed to, in your user space and note that they are in PD as long as others don't contribute to it. –Doldrums(talk) 03:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re:Confusing? edit

You conveniently committed the confusing part, namely "Please note that all edits to the article will also be considered public domain, unless specifically mentioned otherwise by the editor at the time of their improvements." This falsely suggests that future contributors would need to expressively indicate that they do not wish to put their edits into the public domain. You're essentially telling the contributors of this site to adhere to your conditions or to leave the article alone. This is unacceptable. But I see that Doldrums has already told you that. --+Deprifry+ 11:00, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

not a problem, responded, pseudo-agreeing with one point, disagreeing with the other two. Sherurcij 02:34, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
