Weather

Hi B-101,

Thanks for your interest in the Weather page.

Do you have a source for your contribution?

Any scientific claim should have a citation to back it up.

For example, was the number you gave 3.5 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit?

Thanks again for your interest in the Weather page.

Cheers,

Another user has created an Environment section for stories such as this one.
I have moved your announcement to the Environment major events section, as your assertion is a scientific announcement, not an event.
Please feel free to follow up in that section when you have a citation (hopefully an online reference) to back up your assertion.
Cheers,

I saw that an increase in global temp would affect Latin America on the CNN new ticker. I'm not sure which temperature scale they used, but it may have been an increase in both scales. Thanks for letting me know about my mistake.- B-101 12:19, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I don't think you made a mistake. Your news item sounds like an important story. It sounds like you saw this on TV, so I will check the CNN archives to see if I can dig up a source for your story. If you are interested in continuing this type of reporting, I'd appreciate it if you could help look in Google as well.
Cheers,

Culture and entertainment

edit

I started the movie listings for the United States in the Culture and entertainment section, and also added some commentary in the water cooler.DV 01:39, 20 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for starting on The Incredibles movie review.
I went ahead and added a neutral synopsis and some production notes for House of Flying Daggers, but I am wondering what you think about expanding our movie reviews to include firsthand reports of what the reviewer thought of the movie?
For example, comments on the quality of the plot or the cinematography, or the overall entertainment value? I'm hard pressed to point to another outlet for movie reviews that doesn't provide any subjective opinions of the reviewed films, so I'm wondering - why should we be constrained from doing so as well?
I am still wrestling with how firsthand reports can be crafted without violating the NPOV policy, as it would seem that any firsthand report is necessarily filtered through your own biases and interests.
Please let me know if you think we should go ahead and add such commentary to our movie reviews.
I think the lack of any opinion makes for a very boring review (it's almost as if the reviewer had not attended the movie, or is a robot!), so I am hoping to build a consensus that firsthand reports with opinions that convey the total movie-going experience will be acceptable.
Thanks.

I don't know what the NPOV is. But maybe, we could have a section where users include their own opinion. I think I will be very useful with movie reviews. Respond soon.- B-101 15:43, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
