Dear Michael,

Thanks so much for getting in touch. The initial news post was in fact
an
in-class demonstration on the merits of Wikinews. I hope you don't
mind
that I forwarded your note to several members of the class, including
the
Professor, who may be able to offer you more details.

I can confirm that I did indeed discuss Wikinews in WWS 309 Mass Media
and
Public Policy on Monday February 21, 2005.

My report on Wikinews was a basic overview of its history (evolution),
ownership, viewership, and position in the news market. I will be
interviewing Wikinews co-founder Jim Wales in the near future to
discuss
Wikinews in greater detail.

It seemed that the class thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and was
impressed by the potential of this Wikinews technology to change
traditional
conceptions of news gathering.

I will be posting a blog on Wikinews in the near future that I will
send
your way.

Best wishes,
Federico
