The Audio Barnstar

I hereby declare Kamnet most awesome for audio'ing tons of articles and ya know... generally making audio news possible. Since this is a wiki, all I can give you is this barnstar! Spend it wisely.

My name is Kevin Fields, I was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN from 1976 until my departure in 1997, where I moved to Mt. Sterling, KY with my wife and children to start a new life for ourselves. I'm a born-again non-denominational charismatic Christian, my political leanings are slightly to the right, and I have a wide range of eclectic interests.

What do I do for work, you say? I host some websites, build some websites, and take photos and video of sports and sports entertainment events as a freelancer. All of this is a basis for some of my larger work, which is co-editor of AngryMarks.com, a pro wrestling & MMA news site. Since 2006 we started podcasting, and today the AngryMarks Podcast Network is one of the largest sources of original programming for pro wrestling & MMA podcasts and live streams.

Which leads me to why I am here. In 2008 was looking into the possibility of starting a new show, which lead to an opportunity to basically lay out the entire programming for an online radio station. Wanting to add some more variety to it, I was hoping of finding a way to add some daily newscasts. That search lead me here, where I found the Audio Wikinews project, which always needs more volunteers. I'm up for that challenge, and since the radio station idea is now dead, I've got some time to devote here to make a few recordings every day and contribute to a bigger cause. Perhaps it will get me a job at a real radio station some day, or maybe I'll be the next Don LaFontaine. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he? ;-)

If you would like to have an audio transcript of a Wikinews or Wikipedia article I am more than happy to do so voluntarily. The transcript will be uploaded to Commons and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License. I do try to provide audio transcripts for as many Wikinews articles as time allows. If I miss one, however, and you would like one to be made, please leave a signed note on my talk page with a link to the article you would like recorded.
