This is really getting out of control...

"A note that contained the word 'bomb'" was found, and they diverted the plane from Cairo to Athens? Knee-jerk reactionary responses like this are a waste of everyone's time and money, and a joke. A Scribbled word alone should not qualify as a credible threat by any means. Frankly this just exposes how unprepared and ineffective airline and airspace security really is. Don't they have any way of screening and separating real credible threats from conversations, pranks and coincidences?

Airport security is a joke. If I were someone intent on blowing up a plane, it would be really quite easy to do so -- although there's OTT screening of the passengers, the only security normally in place for ground crew is a door with a swipe card. All I need is a bomb, and a high-visibility jacket, and the plane is dropping out of the sky due to a gaping hole where the landing gear used to be.

Or, I could just short out my laptop, or just bribe someone.

Or ship it as cargo. If you sit and figure out the routes, you stand a decent chance of timing it to be on a passenger aircraft.
