Template talk:Lead 2.0

Latest comment: 5 years ago by Pi zero in topic How about adding border by default?

I'm looking at this in development - and not doing too well with the wikicode. Does this still have the option to put up a lead with a short title linking to the full article title? --Brian McNeil / talk 19:16, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

No. I've never seen that used, so I tossed the option. I can put it back in though. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 19:31, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've used it when you get someone putting something stupid like Numbnuts, Alaska, United States. --Brian McNeil / talk 19:50, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Ok. I shall put it back in.--ShakataGaNai ^_^ 20:04, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Link to article through headline edit

Could the link to the article through the title possibly be restored? Right now it only links through the image, which isn't very intuitive. Also, perhaps the "breaking news" indicator should be placed at the top of the lead and not the bottom, i think it more sense that way. Just a thought. He... He... Opps. My bad. I wasn't actually USING the page, I was just looking at it... So... I kinda never noticed I forgot to link em. --ShakataGaNai ^_^ 20:52, 1 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

The type image should link to the article edit

{{editprotected}}

Either that or no link at all, the current linking to its image page is a bit confusing (at least for non-wikians). (I'm talking about e.g. File:Wikinews-breaking-news.svg) Skalman (talk) 15:47, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mobile edit

If the current ids of the leads can be changed without breaking things, could someone change the Lead template to having the id as mf-l_table_numb{{{id}}}, so that the mobile main page actually has content on it? --Yair rand (talk) 21:34, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Border hack not working edit

Hi. At the current version of "Template:Lead article 4", it reads "border|Image credit". Someone has tried to insert the "border" keyword into embedded file syntax using a hack (|image=Flag of Scotland.svg{{!}}border). This hack appears to be broken.

I'd recommend futzing with this template a bit, perhaps adding a "border" template parameter? Something like switching frameless to frameless{{#ifeq:{{{border}}}|yes|border{{!}}}} might work. It'll need a bit of testing. --MZMcBride (talk) 22:30, 27 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I whipped something up quickly, though it's a bit goofy. You can specify |border=border to add a border.

Using {{Lead 2.0}} Using {{Lead 2.1}}

As you can see, now the image credit link is fixed but the image still has a border. --MZMcBride (talk) 22:36, 27 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Did it slightly differently — {{#if:{{{border|}}}|border}}, so setting {{{border}}} to any non-blank value will do. (Tested the fix with a borderless image first, in case. :-) --Pi zero (talk) 00:56, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

How about adding border by default? edit

{{editprotected}} So that we don't have to specify for some cases.

The border doesn't look right with irregularly shaped images such as globes, iirc? Perhaps we could wire it so it turns the border parameter on by default if the name of the image has "Flag" in it? --Pi zero (talk) 20:53, 11 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
I've wired it so, by default, the border is switched on iff the image name starts with "Flag of ". --Pi zero (talk) 21:34, 8 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
