Template talk:Delete
Reason parameter
editI've added a parameter to the message, requiring that editors supply the reason for deletion. This is for several reasons:
- The speedy deletion templates by this name on other projects require a reason parameter. (See the Wikibooks template, for example.)
- The reasons that were given in the message did not in fact match what the current speedy deletion guidelines actually say.
- Requiring that the tagging editor actually give a reason is generally seen as a good idea, in part because it does not require admininstrators to be mind readers. This is one reason that the {{delete}} template on Wikipedia is less favoured than the {{deletebecause}} template.
- It matches the {{cleanup}} template.

Category
editI don't think it works with the category "Deletion requests" to remove articles tagged with the speedy delete template from the main page. The DPL's for days all list "notcategory=Disputed", so "Disputed" is the category to go to prevent them from appearing on our front page. --Deprifry|+T+ 10:45, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
Replacing xambox
edit@Pi zero: would you mind if I replace {{xambox}} with {{msgbox}}? I was trying a flatter (UI) approach for these message boxes, which are simple (in terms of code, and we need not worry about the licensing issue -- ambox was copied from Wikipedia). It will also match some of the other templates I had created. It is consistent across desktop and mobile website (afaict) and reduces page load time. I won't suggest using images for better appearance. (I don't think they are very helpful). See sandbox for how it looks when msgbox is used.
