Template talk:2005 London bombing infobox

Natterer suggested a horizontal layout in #wikinews. Infobox was patterned off Chili finger incident infobox; see Woman finds human finger in bowl of chili at Wendy's restaurant for example. I'm not sure how a horizontal layout would work. Anyone who would like to edit this, be my guest. I'm not adding it to the heavy picture articles until I've found a way to make it fit in better. Perhaps two versions; one horizontal and one vertical? Also, is there any reason why we shouldn't use DPL for these stories? - McCart42 (talk) July 7, 2005 15:48 (UTC)

Date format

I reverted NGerda's change from 2005-07-07 to July 7, 2005. Currently, the Wikipedia article is written with the "7 July 2005" format, but the international standard is laid out in ISO 8601, as YYYY-MM-DD. If you'd like to write out the month for clarity, we can change it to 2005-July-07, but that seems even more unwieldy. - McCart42 (talk) July 8, 2005 03:14 (UTC)

  • Dan100, if you want to make it look familiar to British readers, then use 7 July 2005; I was under the impression that DD MONTH YYYY was their convention. For now, I'm changing it back. I believe MONTH D, YYYY is the American convention, and that doesn't serve anyone but American readers. Let's talk about this some more before changing it again. It's one thing to pick one format in an article, but this is an infobox headline and category name, and I want to be clear and concise (not spell out the month name). - McCart42 (talk) July 9, 2005 02:27 (UTC)

The date format we tend to use on Wikinews is Month D, YYYY. I think we should be consistent in that, or change it across the board for all dates on the site. -- IlyaHaykinson 9 July 2005 19:09 (UTC)
