Template:Mainspace disambig/Great Britain
The term Great Britain generally should not be used as a political term, as it excludes Northern Ireland which is (as of this writing) part of the United Kingdom.
- Geographically, Great Britain is the larger, eastern of the two main islands of the British Isles. We do not (as of this writing) have a category for the island, nor for the other main island, Ireland, which is politically made up of the country of Ireland and the region of Northern Ireland.
- The term "Great Britain" is sometimes used for the United Kingdom, notably in a sports context, but we recommend against this usage.
