Template:Develop/Original reporting/introduction

There are no reviewed versions of this page, so it may not have been checked for adherence to standards.

Original reporting sets Wikinews apart from Wikipedia. You may rely on information you have gathered yourself in the text of an article, but you must provide enough information to allow the reviewer to judge the credibility of your report.

Please read these instructions, and complete the appropriate sections giving information on the original reporting you have done.

If a listed section does not apply to your original reporting, explicitly state it is "not applicable".

As is appropriate, place the templates {{Original}}, {{Interview}}, and/or {{Broadcast report}} in the sources section of the actual article.

Censor posted information as is appropriate, and to be considerate to your sources.

For example, remove personal email addresses.

Proactively seek confirmation of your reporting by forwarding copies of emails shown here "censored", or other non-public documents, to scoop@wikinewsie.org. List each item forwarded to this address, and try to attach multiple items to a single email. Include a link to this page in the email you send.
