How does this qualify as a news item? Thatmarkguy 20:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sounds quite newsworthy to me, as an oddity. Although I highly dispute use of the subjective term 'make love' in favour of a more technical term such as 'mate with' or 'intercourse' or something like that. --84.65.21.21 18:32, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Newsworthy? Yes, but I dont see enough other news on this page for this to qualify. With 6-12 news items a day that make the Wikinews front page...its sad to see things like this taking up space. It happens at least once a day. Thatmarkguy 20:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Your rationale doesn't seem to make sense, Thatmarkguy. You admit it is newsworthy, but then say there is not enough other news for the Camel story to qualify. Don't you mean that it should qualify by default because there are not enough other news stories? We need articles. I don't think we have the luxury of being so selective. Besides, the "Camel" story is right now the "most e-mailed" story on BBC News and the 4th "most read". A lot of people are reading it. You seem literate, why don't you chip in with some articles that interest you? We could use the help! Cheers, Jcart1534 20:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think what he means is that he doesn't find this to be a frontpage-worthy article. --Gafaddict 22:23, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I know what he means, Gafaddict. That is what I meant by "we need more articles". Until we have dozens of articles every day, all articles go on the frontpage (worthy or not). It is "taking up space" as Thatmarkguy suggested, but it is not taking space away from another article - because there are none. I wish we had the problem of choosing which articles make it to the frontpage, but we don't at the moment. Jcart1534 23:33, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I guess I was under the impression that there was a group of people that decided what news items made article status. I assumed there were dozens of submissions daily and only a few were selected for front page status. Now that I understand the lack of news articles, and being a fellow news junkie myself, I will keep an eye out for contribution opportunities. Thanks guys. That would be excellent, Thatmarkguy! We would welcome your contributions. Cheers, Jcart1534 15:01, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Haha! You've chosen the most provocative headline possible without regard to fact but anyway.
