Talk:US candidate Barack Obama announces Joe Biden as his running mate via text message

Latest comment: 15 years ago by SVTCobra

Bloomberg and WSJ briefly said that it had been announced as Tim Kaine, but that was quickly retracted.

If anyone is signed up to get the text message from Obama, please post the entire text here so we can use it. Thanks. --SVTCobra 16:30, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have signed up for e-mail notification, so the above request is not so urgent. --SVTCobra 23:55, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It just came flying across the news, and I added sources from AP, CNN, and NY Times at Barack Obama picks Senator Joe Biden for his vice presidential nominee. My girlfriend works for the local democratic party, and she and her colleagues have not received a text message. JeremyMcCracken (talk) 05:39, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I haven't received my text message yet, and its already in other news sources. Perhaps the use of text messaging to make such public announcements seem more personal should be the subject of an article - separate from the article about the content of the text message, that Biden was chosen as VP running mate by the presumptive candidate. --Blumrosen (talk) 05:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I never got my promised e-mail. Since the announcement, though, they are bombarding me for contributions, so I didn't give them the wrong e-mail. So much for the whole "Be the first to know" marketing that the Obama campaign made such a big deal out of. --SVTCobra 21:58, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

looks good to me edit

The news looks good to be published. One more source I browsed: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/24/us/politics/24biden.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin Kushal one (talk) 15:23, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kushal's source added to draft of stable version. --Blumrosen (talk) 17:00, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
