Clarification
editThis article is about an agreement between Obama and the leaders of the House and of the Senate. The agreement does not pass the bill. Both the House and the Senate have to pass the bill before it takes effect. The agreement between the House and Senate leaders is just that, an agreement, which has no force of law. I tried to make the situation clearer. Mattisse (talk) 10:45, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
"The Senate, where support is stronger, is expected to take up the bill on Tuesday."
edit"The Senate, where support is stronger, is expected to take up the bill on Tuesday." from President Obama: Deal reached on debt crisis given as a source in the article. Mattisse (talk) 13:45, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. I believe this is important because the article gives details of the expected House vote but not the Senate vote expected on Tuesday. Mattisse (talk) 13:47, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
The quote is still in the article - I found it again today
editThe quote about the Senate voting on Tuesday is still there, just as it was yesterday. That is where I got the quote yesterday and today from President Obama: Deal reached on debt crisis Doing a search for "Tuesday" doesn't work. You have to actually read the article. It is in a box near the bottom right, under August 1, just as it was before. The article has not changed. You must look for it and not just do a search for "Tuesday", as that search does not find it, perhaps because of the way the article is formatted. I think it is in a text flash. That is why you must look and not do a search for "Tuesday". Mattisse (talk) 15:19, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

editThe article dated July 31, 2011 linked here:President Obama: Deal reached on debt crisis contains the following information in flash format.
The Senate, where support is stronger, is expected to take up the bill on Tuesday, the deadline for Congress to act before the government loses its ability to pay all its bills.
The article makes it sound like the bill has been passed in the Senate when it has not been. The law will not take effect until the bill passes both houses, so the article gives the wrong impression. Mattisse (talk) 15:38, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Source for second addition to article
edit"Votes on the plan in the House and Senate are expected soon ahead of the August 2 deadline to increase the debt limit or risk default, but are not yet scheduled as members of both houses review the deal. The Senate will likely vote first as party leaders in the House try to corral the necessary votes." from President Obama: Deal reached on debt crisis used as a source for the article. This quote can be found with search, as it is not in Flash but in regular text. I paraphrased it for the article. Respectfully, Mattisse (talk) 15:56, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- The House already passed the bill... Ragettho (talk) 15:57, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
