Talk:US President Donald Trump tests positive for COVID-19

Where was this item first reported and by whom edit

I am curious to find out if Fox News was the original source of this news. According to this article: Last night on the Fox News Network, US President Donald Trump reported...

It is my understanding that the topic of the Hanity interview was not Trump himself but Hope Hicks' diagnosis. The news about Trump's diagnosis came out hours later.

Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 00:29, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

He tweeted his positive result and then he had a call with Fox News. I think Fox news was the first he spoke with after the Tweet. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 13:25, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Trump spoke with Hannity from Fox News before he tweeted his positive test results and said how he may have contracted it, saying that military and law enforcement want to hug you... so he spoke with Fox news before his positive test result here as reported in the AP, AP source as well. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 14:18, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the Thursday interview with Hannity was the first public disclosure of the positive test, then came the early hour tweet. The positive test for Hope Hicks public disclosure happened sometime there after however, and I am going off of the consistent report, came as early as Wednesday. No, the Thursday interview with HANNITY is just Trump saying he's waiting for his test results. At this interview he didn't know yet. They talked of Hopes Hicks positive test. They spoke that "things happen".. because people want to hug him... But at this Thursday interview with Hannity he did not yet have his results.--The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 00:09, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

The time when the President informed the public via twitter edit

This is the tweet sent by the President and the time stamp was 12:54 AM · Oct 2, 2020 (EST) - I am wondering where the 9:54 time comes from. See here: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1311892190680014849 --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 09:31, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

AFAICT, Twitter shows time based on your time zone. For me, it is 10:24 AM October 2. That is 04:54 October 02, 2020 (UTC).

It's been my impression that none of those US-west-coast services use US-east-coast time; they either use US-west-coast time or UTC. --Pi zero (talk) 13:12, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Regardless of your time zone and my time zone. .. What time zone is used on Wiki News on articles? Some people say it was on Oct 1st. Sure it ws on Oct 1st in Hawaii and New Zealand. :) --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 13:23, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
The tweet was after 4 AM UTC. So report that time. If you want to convert the time, use https://time-convertor.toolforge.org

To be clear. Our publication date uses UTC; Wikinews itself uses UTC. However, we report when something happened usually in local time, the time zone applicable where it happened (and we say explicitly that's what we're doing as we do it). The question remains, is the timestamp on the tweet given in UTC, or US-east-coast time, or US-west-coast time. If it's 0054 Friday UTC, that would be 9:54pm Thursday on the US east coast. If it's 12:54am Friday on the US west coast, that would be 3:54am Friday on the US east coast and 0754 Friday UTC. And if it's 12:54am Friday on the US east coast, that would be 0454 Friday UTC. --Pi zero (talk) 13:44, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
"And if it's 12:54am Friday on the US east coast, that would be 0454 Friday UTC" <--- that is when the event / tweet occurred. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 13:58, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
The AP source says "early Friday morning" --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 14:21, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I made a mistake and dropped the initial event which was an interview with Sean Hannity which was Thursday Night. Therefore it should remain a Thursday article. AZOperator (talk) 19:08, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

The date on a news article is when it's published, which is apparently going to be Saturday. --Pi zero (talk) 20:05, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Pi zero: I was referring to the first sentence as oppose to the articles date. Still cannot believe this got published. Thank you. -- AZOperator (talk) 16:45, 7 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hospital where he is staying is incorrect in this article edit

He is staying at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethseda, Maryland. Source. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 13:53, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Technically you are right, it is called "Walter Reed National Military Medical Center" however to my knowledge the style guide give some latitude to use a shorter and more referred to name. AZOperator (talk) 19:10, 3 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
No. A shorter name is the name of a different Walter Reed hospital. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 00:11, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Issues and Collision edit

@The Eloquent Peasant, Ottawahitech, Ixfd64, Acagastya: As contributors to this and the redundant article, I think it would be best to take our combined efforts getting behind one article. I don't need to get the report back from @Pi zero: to know this article has a few errors in it. Here is what I would purpose as changes:

Paragraph 1 1) Reintroduce the audio interview between Trump and Hannity 2) Jared changed to Jared Kushner

Paragraph 2 1) Hammer down the actual times 2) Undo the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to just Walter Reed Medical Center 3) Move the 14-day quarantine and introduce that it is private medical suite reserved for high ranking US officials

Paragraph 3 Should be swapped with paragraph 4 1) Update the cocktail and any knowledge of what is in the infusion 2) We now know he is taking Remdesivir so that should be added 3) White House physician should be written "Cmdr. Dr. Sean Conley"

Paragraph 4 1) Either introduce contact tracing within the White House or get rid of the Hope Hicks part 2) Say that Biden was unaffected
