Could someone rewrite this?

"Almost no one tried to help him. One gave him a cookie, another passer by offered him his own coat. Someone called an ambulance, which picked him up and brought him to two different hospitals, none of which accepted him because he did not have an ID to show. The ambulance left him where they picked him up..."
