I highly doubt that Israeli troops would burn down synagogues. Please provide sources for that --Deprifry 16:12, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

You doubt it? It's in all of the news networks; Israel actually burned down a couple of synagogues in Gaza as they were leaving, after all of the religious objects had been removed. The Palestinians didn't want any Israeli structures remaining in Gaza. --Ari S.

Yes I do. Israel is on contrary refusing to demolish synagogues, much to the dislike of the PA. Now Palestinians are burning them down. Could you please provide a link for the allegations stated in the article? --Deprifry 20:54, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

i have searched around and can't find any source for the fact that Israeli troops burned any synagogues when leaving. the palestinians certainly set fire to them once they entered, but nowhere it is mentioned some were already on fire or such, something im sure would be said if it was the fact. it wouldn't make sense that israel would do this as they clearly stated they wanted them protected by the palestian authority, something they of course aren't able to do. I took out all the disputed parts, since the author has not provided sources which support his claims. I also added links, categories, and a pic. I renamed it, and then somebody else renamed it to a much longer name. StuRat 22:56, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

The first source seems to direct us to a section lead story in Yahoo!, which is changed periodically. Therefore, the story there now is not the one you tried to refer us to. Please fix that link to point to the article directly. The second article could be misunderstood to mean Israel set the fire, but then clarifies things in the next sentence:

"Thousands of celebrating Palestinians thronged through Neve Dekalim on early Monday just after Israeli soldiers withdrew, setting fire to a building that just last month served as a rabbinical college for Jewish settlers.

There were similar scenes throughout Gaza as Palestinians headed straight for empty synagogues Israel had decided to leave intact."

If you find sources that support the view that Israelis set the fire, let me know to take another look. StuRat 03:42, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

I have now changed the first source to point at the article which I believe you had in mind. It does not, however, say Israel burned down any synagogues. It says "On Sunday, the Israeli Cabinet reversed itself, voting not to destroy the synagogue buildings." StuRat 04:04, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
