Removed reference to ´new belly camera´ (which would be news to NASA ;-) ) and added the manouver that Discovery performed to allow the viewing of the ET through the orbiter´s upper windows where photographs & video were taken by an MS. --Pvtparts 16:36, 26 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Part that fell off? edit

What about the part that fell off? http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/space/07/26/space.shuttle/index.htmlZypres 00:17, 27 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

At the latest press conference, the (white) item falling off just a few seconds after launch was identified as a light-plastic TVEC cover which was designed to seperate in flight. (this is an insignificant event apparently).
There was also a radar return from an article falling from the shuttle later in flight and the rocketcam video showed a relatively large item falling from the side of the ET just after booster seperation (missing the oribiter).
There was also word of a suspected 1 1/4" deep damage point on a tile but unfortunately I missed the full detail on this. - There will be more to follow on tommorows early press conferenece. --Pvtparts 00:35, 27 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Might be worth another story to put it all in. The nasa post-launch brief contained images of a bird-strike to the lower ET nosecap, the TYVEK covers coming off, the l/h debris event on the ET and a suspected 1 1/4" section of tile missing just aft of the nosegear door. (Press brief images avail on the nasa.gov website.)--Pvtparts 09:55, 27 July 2005 (UTC)Reply
