My lame original reporting: Watching TV ;). --Deprifry 10:20, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

The sum of the seats in the projection is 611, but the available seats are 598. Is it a mistake?--84.148.40.198 20:29, 18 September 2005 (UTC) HalvaReply

That is due to the very, very complicated German voting system with its overhang seats. --Deprifry 20:32, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the answers. I have noticed only now the words "598 seats (more in care of overhang seats)", sorry for bothering :) --84.148.40.198 20:43, 18 September 2005 (UTC) HalvaReply
Actually I added that explanation after you asked your question here, so there was no way for you to know :). --Deprifry 20:45, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I'm following this very interesting election from Sweden and have just learnt about the situation in Dresden 1 and the so called "overhang seats" awarded on top of the 598 seats. With these overhang seats, what is the theoretical upper limit of seats in the Bundestag?--83.227.37.163 23:53, 18 September 2005 (UTC) Per MReply

I guess if one party gets 99,9 % of the first votes and 0,1 % of the second votes and another 0,1 % of the first and 99,9 of the second, I think the size of the Bundestag could increase to 598 (regular seat count) + 299 (if all won constiuencies are overhang seats) = 897. Of course thats purly theoretical and the 15 overhang seats we have now is already pretty high. --Deprifry 05:03, 19 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Actual Results

edit

When can we expect some ACTUAL results from Germany then? Getting fed up of watching the exit polls update.

Preliminary results are expected to be announced between 2 AM and 3 AM CEST (GMT+2). However, actual results will not be seen before October 2nd; see Voting_chaos_in_Germany_expected.

NPOV? No quoptes from Merkel

WTF?! It had quotes but apparently they were deleted with this edit and nobody noticed. I've restored them. --Deprifry 13:58, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
