I'm stuggling over whether it is/isn't 'breaking'; whatever the case, we need a (real quick) article showing Akin's responses to the hullabuloo! --Bddpaux (talk) 19:53, 21 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Honkin' big quote edit

Heya; there's a huge quote that includes what appears to be mis-starts in this article -- it's not really easy to speak those sections and still have them sound coherent. I have two possible solutions to this, but I'm not sure either is allowed in the context of wikinews:

In an interview with the St. Louis television station KTVI-TV on Sunday, Akin said: "Well you know, people always want to try to make that as one of those things, well how do you, how do you slice this particularly tough sort of ethical question. First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."

In an interview with the St. Louis television station KTVI-TV on Sunday, Akin made controversial comments seeming to suggest that conception can not occur if rape is legitimate. Later he went on to say, "I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."
  • for the spoken version.

Thoughts, please? --Mozillaman (talk) 20:10, 21 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well, hmmmmmmmmm.......I'll just toss my opinion out here.......we don't normally change the text once it's published (unless it's wrong). Now, so long as the YouTube bit is CC, that'd be cool, but then again, I dunno....I need an "expert" to weigh in on this. --Bddpaux (talk) 20:35, 21 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • The YouTube bit is part of a KTVI-TV interview; so it's not Creative Commons. It might be fair use, but, I'm not sure. In any case a spoken version of the article as-is sounds rather horrible. --Mozillaman (talk) 22:27, 21 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I can see what you mean.....here's my advice: orally shorten Akin's quotes as you see fit, AKA, "In an interview with the St. Louis television station KTVI-TV on Sunday, Akin said, in part, "...If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." Also, don't bog down....you're job is to turn the article into an audio version of the article, nothing more, nothing less. I think your judgement is ample to pick the right method. --Bddpaux (talk) 03:18, 22 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Template edit

That currently recording template is pretty cool! --Bddpaux (talk) 20:51, 21 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
