Talk:President Trump says he 'can' and 'may' put US into state of emergency to build border wall

Quick thoughts edit

@Qwerty number1: Explain who "Trump" is, and what country we're talking about. Don't call the country "America" in Wikinews's own voice; call it the US, the U.S., the United States, less commonly the USA or United States of America. --Pi zero (talk) 22:11, 5 January 2019 (UTC) @Pi zero: Done?! • We require three paragraphs minimum and an overall content equal to three mid-size paragraphs. We don't count single-sentence paragraphs; this article consists solely of six single sentence paragraphs. I'm not convinced it's long enough to be equal to three mid-size paragraphs; in terms of having at least three paragraphs total, it effectively has none. Surely, there's more details than this you can add. Background, reaction, all that stuff. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 22:17, 5 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Blood Red Sandman: Done, is it a pass now? Qwerty number1 (talk) 14:31, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Might be. If nobody beats me to it I will review in a few hours. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 15:16, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Possible update tonight edit

I see review is under way, but if it does not pass, we may be able to do a refresh. Ol' Tribblenoggin is planning an address about the border tonight: NY Times Darkfrog24 (talk) 19:49, 7 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Has consensus changed? Traditionally, one would expect a reader to understand who Trump was from a headline, with suitable detail in the lede. This was discussed and agreed during Obama's tenure. BRS (Talk) (Contribs) 17:33, 8 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Who the fuck is Trump? Which Trump is being discussed? Or why is it worth the time? Thing is, which person: that decides a lot of things. Consider: "Modi visits Pakistan". Which Modi? If Narendra Modi, current PM of India, that might be of interest for a lot of people. Turns out the everyday Joe like person "Viral Modi" visits Pakistan (and somehow that is newsworthy), the headline is blatantly misleading. Things get messier when two fairly notable people share the last name: "Irani joins Congress" would clearly be a clickbait. Just because things were done in one way in the past does not mean it can not be improved now.
