Talk:President Bush admits secret CIA detention centres

Latest comment: 17 years ago by Doldrums in topic "renewed crackdown on terrorism"

So then, the title is he admits secret detention centers? It isn't that he moved the detainees to Gitmo? That seems to be the main info of the aritcle. Bad title choice.

nice work edit

perhpas a li'l word about protests by the UN committee against torture (May, sourced, Reuters) and Amnesty International, HRW. they've expended much effort on this. Doldrums 03:32, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

"renewed crackdown on terrorism" edit

what's that? did i miss something or is it a reference to the renewed PR offensive regarding the War on ErrorTerror? Doldrums 10:31, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

well it is a reference to that I suppose. With the mid-terms coming up Bush is trying to publicise Trrorism again as that is what keeps his position (fairly) strong. All 3 sources hint to this and 1 explicitly mentions a renewed effort to stamp on terrorsim (thats not a literal quote!) --Errant 10:34, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
if it is a reference ot the PR thing, then it really should be called that in the article. the sentence, as it stands, would be plainly false - there is no renewed crackdown. Doldrums 10:54, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok point taken, changed to 'focus on terrorism' which is what the sources use :D --Errant 11:00, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
thanks. i could've done the changes myself, but this was easier. :) Doldrums 11:04, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
