Talk:Paul Winchell, voice of Tigger, Gargamel, dead at 82

I've noticed when I preview this story the paragraphs are not breaking. Is this a common issue? - Tdempsey 27 June 2005 06:58 (UTC)

Clarification

edit

Can somebody knowledgable clarify in which languge this person did a voice of Gargamel? I am sure it's American English, but it may something else, so I don't want to edit. The Smurfs are originally Belgian, if I am not mistaken - so it would be nice to make this clear. --Dcabrilo 27 June 2005 07:01 (UTC)

Re: Clarification

The obit refers to the American, Hanna-Barbera produced series "The Smurfs" which premiered in 1980 (though the Smurfs have their origins in Belgian comics, I don't believe any Belgian animation was produced of them until some time later). So yes, Winchell was the English voice of Gargamel. Also, John Fiedler, who played Piglet alongside Winchell in many "Winnie the Pooh" productions, has also passed away, a day after Winchell (and deserves a news entry, but that's another matter I suppose).
