Talk:Norway and Denmark conducting observation flights over Belarus and Russia

Copyvio? edit

I am not sure if it is, but I copy pasted a paragraph from wikipedia almost verbatim. Are we allowed to do that? --Dcabrilo 28 June 2005 15:00 (UTC)

In most cases, no, it is not allowed to copy text from Wikipedia into Wikinews articles, because wikinews text must be w:public domain while wikipedia text is w:GFDL. If you wrote the text in wikipedia, or the person who wrote it agrees to place their work in the public domain, then it is OK. In this particular case, I actually copied that paragraph into the wikipedia article from a public domain source originally (see w:Treaty_on_Open_Skies#References), so it is fine. Thanks for the article. -- Leif 2 July 2005 06:39 (UTC)
