Talk:Long Beach, CA Redevelopment Agency ends talks for church
I attended the March 27th meeting, and spoke for two minutes. The chair kindly allowed me an additional minute. The attorney also spoke, as mentioned in the article. The meeting opened with a moment of silence because of a death in the community. Then the pledge, and the open mike. Then the board left. I talked to other people in the audience who were willing. The kind city clerk, Jan, gave me the minutes of the meeting on the 13th, and I requested a voice recording of that meeting for $5.00. In that meeting, the procedure for eminent domain was spelled out, according to the written minutes. I took the photos at the meeting. I thought the photo of the empty room told the story. The Redevelopment Agency is quite tight with information. I don't know why they feel that closed sessions are such a good idea. Presumably it is to protect someone's feelings, but whoever it is should just get over it. -- posted by User:MartinGugino

added audio to the article from official city recording.
The reference to "Norton" must be incorrect. I am trying to get Jan to respond a question on that point. The court with jurisdiction is determined by the zip code of the property in question, I have been told at the county court building on Ocean Blvd in Long Beach - meaning that the eminent domain action would need to be in the civl division in that building. I am trying to get a clarification.
Jan Pittman, the nice City Clerk, denies the conversation: Regarding the conversaiton. "I do not remember having this conversation. I would have no idea about where eminent domain proceedings would be filed. I'm not sure who you could have spoken to. The only thing I remember talking to you about at the top of the stairs was how to spell your name and the tapes." I have contacted the attorney to confirm or correct my recollection.
