Hmmmm. I'm in Blacksburg, VA, USA, and gas prices are lower today. They were 3.25 or so last week and 2.95 yesterday. --Aciel 14:03, 12 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Misleading article title

edit

This article title is misleading. As of Sept 11 (the date of the article), prices have been dropping. Maybe a better title is "Katrina rose gas prices higher than ever". You can't wait days after the peak and then claim "higher than ever" - makes the article inaccurate. - Texture 14:45, 12 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

It is not only misleading, it's not in English!

  • intransitive verb: to rise, rose, risen; to move upward
  • transitive verb: to raise, raised; to lift, to cause to rise up

Hope someone has the authority to edit titles here!

You too could have that authority. Just register an account (it only takes 30 seconds) and you can rename whatever page you like :) --Deprifry 16:41, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

It may have been a while since I took a proper English course, but I am certain that the anonymous English lesson posted above is correct. Therefore, as a registered acct user, I would change title from "Katrina rose gas prices higher than ever" to "Katrina raised gas prices higher than ever" but when I try to edit the page, I can only edit the text and not the headline. Yes, I'm new here. --Dymaxion 17:05, 12 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at the top of the article. To the right of the "edit this page"-button, you see "history" and "rename" :). Clicking there will get you to a special page where you can enter a new name for the article. --Deprifry 17:31, September 12, 2005 (UTC)

Destruction of Refineries?

edit

"The losses from the deadly hurricane include the destruction of oil refineries all around the Mexican Gulf area,"

I was under the impression that most refiniries were knocked off line or taken of their moorings. Serious but not as permanent as the word destruction implies.
