Talk:Israeli PM Sharon rushed to hospital

Latest comment: 18 years ago by Chiacomo in topic Adding new information

[w:WINS-AM|1010 WINS] is quoting a hospital official as having said Sharon has had a major stroke and is on a respirator. I'm headed off to work, so I'm not going to be able to write this article for the next couppla hours. Also see if someone at ויקיחדשות can lend a hand in the translation (I couldn't read it) ▪ NeoAmsterdamTalkEdits 21:56, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speculation: Acceptable?

edit

Is speculation of this possibly defamatory nature acceptable? The source may be true, but it's still pure speculation in a news environment.

questionable section follows:

It is speculated that this stroke may be directly attributable to Sharon's notorious unhealthy eating patterns. The previous stroke was directly prefaced by a meal of hamburgers, steak in chimichurri sauce, lamb chops, shish kebab, and salad. He has also been known to finish an entire tube of Pringles during a single interview sitting. While his previous wife Lily forced him to go on a diet, Mr. Sharon frequently had his security detail smuggle him pita filled with greasy meat.

I'm leaning toward no (towards kill speculation). I don't think anyone would get mad at you if you removed it. Bawolff ☺☻  05:20, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Looks like that part was taken almost verbatim from the first link on sources, so it deserved to go anyway.

Breaking?

edit

This has had {{breaking}} on it for a while now, I think that should go and any significant new developments should be a new story. --Brian McNeil / talk 21:50, 5 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Adding new information

edit

Rather than adding new information (ie adding info from Jan6th to an article dated Jan4th) can we get new articles started with the information in the future? sinblox (talk) 05:55, 7 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

We're supposed to start new articles for new information -- unless it's truly a breaking news situation.... and if it's an extended breaking story, articles can be "cut off" and a new one started. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:56, 7 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Chronology

edit

I think this article is wholly too spread out chronologically, it's time to start posting new articles as information becomes available. It destroys the usability of Wikinews because there's nothing to denote that an article has been updated with new information.

When you get round to merging this with the earlier story on Sharon being admitted to hospital, could we have a source for the incident actually being a brain haemmorage? Brian McNeil / talk 22:07, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

fox news is my source.
