=="Local Palestinians"?

I'm having difficulty understanding the following:

Local Palestinians looked on as the protesters were cleared, and told reporters that life would be easier for them now. Previously, Israeli settlers had stopped Palestinian farmers from travelling, and had not even let them visit the village cemetery.

Is this just a generalization, or is it referring to Palestinians from a particular location? Theshibboleth 21:33, 23 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I had a go at making it easier to read, but I can't answer your question. I think that it means in one of the villages that they are withdrawing from though. --Apyule 01:40, 24 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
