POV, Speculation and Truthfullness Issues edit

  • It's not clear that the Iranian government has "denied the holocaust even happened"... the only information pertaining to this is a translation in which it was described as the "myth of the holocaust". In the context, it's not clear that the meaning was that it "never happened". Also, it wouldn't be the first time his words have been made to seem more inflamatory after translation. I dunno.. as I said.. it's not clear.. but being as this is a "news" site, debatable things should probably be somehow noted rather than presented as fact?

  • It is possible that the real reason for publishing anti-semitic cartoons is to try and inflame the situation in Palestine and Isreal. (speculation and a little POV)
  • ....is an unusual response to the Danish newspaper... (POV)
  • Denmark has only a tiny Jewish population... (probably factual, but is it?)

That entire paragraph was POV analysis and was removed by Neutralizer before I could get to it. ;-)--Eloquence 12:50, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agree as well, only before I could get to saying that it was it was gone. :) Jason Safoutin 12:51, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

last paragraph edit

Removed information on Danish Jews in Holocaust as it is irrelevant to the article and suggests that the reason for the small number of Jews in Denmark is that they left Denmark during WW2 (which is false as most retuned after the war). Also added a second source to support that there are only few Jews in Denmark and added an estimate of the number to quantify "small". --vonbergm 17:23, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hamshari Response edit

There is no logic behind the proposed 'tit for tat' Jewish cartoons just like there was no logic or justification for publishing the original cartoons. I would actually like to see some more cartoons being published about Christians at a later date. I think the world should be unanimous in sharing the lowliest of the modren morals. --Dr. T.A.Mian, UK, 7.2.06

"Mohammad cartoons" edit

Do we really need the constant scare quotes on this phrase? Isn't the wikilink on the first occurance enough? Ajohnson 19:12, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Anne Frank edit

What's this stuff about Anne Frank being an avid supporter of such-and-such, didn't she die very young in the hands of the Nazis. -T.L. S. (193.166.179.48 10:23, 9 February 2006 (UTC))Reply

She was a relatively sophisticated German teenager. In the Anne Frank museum in Amsterdam it states that she believed that everyone should be equal, and should be free to express their views. She believed that this freedom of expression would prevent conflict and the rise of racial hatred (as happened in her home country). Rnt20 14:54, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
never read "Anne Frank's diary" ?? very sad story Jacques Divol

"Free Speech" edit

Did it occur to anyone that the Iranian complaints seem to labour under the misconception that "Free Speech" means "you must print everything", rather than "you may print anything you like"? Why would a newspaper print cartoons they consider in bad taste just to prove they support "Free Speech"? Let the Iranians print their own cartoons, but not accuse papers of double standards: "Free Speech" means that you are free to entertain double standards if you like. 83.76.220.51 19:58, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hamshahri edit

There is a typo in the name of this article. It should be Hamshahri.
