What are the specific objections to this article?

NPOV edit

This article includes elements which are particularly biased in opposition to the duly-elected Hamas party and government of Palestine. This sentence is particularly exemplary:

Hamas, the armed, radical Islamic party, came to power at the January 2006 elections on a platform to destroy Israel.

I would encourage the author to consider the Hamas article on Wikipedia. The Hamas political party is one of many Palestinian parties which is Islamic, but by no means is it radical; in fact it is the majority party in Palestine which indicates it is, in that environment, particularly unradical. It is not a military organization, it is a social and political organization. Its published platform in the 2006 elections very specificly did not discuss Israel, unlike all other parties in the contest. It did not call for the destruction of Israel, and neither of the sources cited claim it did. - Amgine | talk en.WN 02:02, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

To me it looks like Amgines objections are adressed. I publish it. Amgine or anywikinewsie, please revert if unsatisfied. international 10:20, 6 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's fact. Hamas has not renounced this, hence big controversy.

I sometimes wonder whether Neutral point of view is not about stating facts but about "giving the opposite to the popular view for a change." I'm sorry: when the popular view is fact, that view is objective!

However I'm not saying the article couldn't be re-phrased in places

"Hamas, the armed, radical Islamic party, came to power at the January 2006 elections on a platform to destroy Israel."

This very direct language. The blow could be softened but omitting basic facts would be biased. It is essentially correct and if you were to listen to some of the stuff these people say in their speeches I think you'd agree.

>>Hamas, an Islamic party, came to power at the January 2006 elections.<<

I have no objections to this phrase as it is clear from the fact they have ignored attempts to reconcil with Israel where they stand on that matter.

Is there any thing else that you would like worked on in this article?
