Review edit

Changed from {{Review}} to {{Publish}} by Cirt (talk). The article could use a bit more background info on the war itself, but it is a good brief standalone piece. Factchecking for accuracy and readability also checks out. Cirt (talk) 17:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Balance/Neutrality edit

I think we need to bring in the viewpoints of Russia and South Ossetia (more). I must admit I don't really know what is going on there, and don't have much of an idea why the different parties are engaged/ at war, but I do have the impression that Georgia is managing to put itself in relatively favourable light (at least here on wikinews). P.S. Of course I will be trying to work in some of the viewpoints I mentioned now.

Links:

  • Russian Presidents officeThis has some interesting press releases and "transcripts" of working meetings, I must have missed it yesterday:
  • apparently South Ossetian gov I used this for information in an article yesterday, relying on Wikipedia telling me its the South Ossetian state news agency. Infos from a later press release were added in this article I think and removed later (due to the slanted way they were put in). I'd like to reinclude that info, but it would be really good if someone that can read russian could confirm the site is what I think it is.edit: well, thanks to someone else, I've seen the english language site, and I reckon its what Wikipedia states it as. So my request is no longer of import.

Damnit Wikinews! edit

Things look really ugly in South Ossetia. The reporting here is onesided and when the dust fall there might look similar to the genocide in Bosnia some years ago. Western media, and Wikinews, is to influated by sucsessfull Georgian info and mediawar. Do the reporting and articles with NPOV in mind or you will be in shame later. Look for sources with reporters on place! Quote Russia FM at least.

Check this source for ballance.
