  • Who are the victims here? Who is dead? What does it matter who someone writes for..are we all the way back to the days of McCarthy? Our(USA) biggest trading partner is COMMUNIST China for goodness sakes. If it was an American reporter with Army Times who was wounded and a CIA agent killed by Italian soldiers would we be inferring the reporter's account is biased because he works for the army? Most importantly, prior tragedies that killed americans is no more relevant to this story than abu ghraib abuses; no more relevant at all. You have to say that Sgrena works for a communist newspaper and that Americans were victims of car-bomb attacks before. I will restore the last version. Also, they were not unsourced and unrelated POV comments. They were sourced (follow the links) and they were facts, not comments. The American generals are already claiming that it was the height of incompetence for the Italians to be driving at high speed at night, under a curfew situation, without establishing radio contact with the Coalition Forces, so I don't think this "investigation" is going to get very far.
However, I am skeptical about the claim that a tank shot hundreds of rounds into their car and two of the occupants lived to tell the tale.
If they wanted to assassinate her, they would have killed everyone in the car so there would be no witnesses to tell the truth of what happened.
This is a confusing story, and unfortunately, it is unlikely that "the truth" will emerge. — DV 02:44, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)
You're quite right DV. A US M1 tank uses a 7.62mm co-axial machine gun; I've seen first-hand the use of such weapons (fires the same round as the British Army GPMG); the car would've been literally shredded. Dan100 (Talk) 06:57, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

(Alleged Photo of Sgrena car from Associated Press). Also, if it is true that the soldiers fired 300-400 bullets, why is she alive? Can someone survive to 300 bullets from army's mighty weapons?

It turned out the car in the photo was not the one involved in the accident.
