A mile west of Walt Disney World isn't Kissimmee.

If the Merchantile Bank is "a mile west of Walt Disney World" and Kissimmee is many miles east of Walt Disney World, then the bank robbery could not have been in Kissimmee. Something is incorrect in the sources. All sources filed the story from Kissimmee, but that doesn't mean the bank is within city limits. If it's the Merchantile Bank I'm thinking it is, it's in the Formosa Gardens Shopping Center - closer to Buena Vista and within a mile of Walt Disney World. Karen 18:06, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

I was right, Buena Vista is 5 miles away, while Kissimmee is 11. The closest city is actually "Bay Lake". I updated the story to state that "The suspects had escaped the Mercantile Bank, a mile west of Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports," although Disney's nearest theme park is Animal Kingdom, who's entrance is less than 2,500 feet northeast of the bank which was robbed. I believe the confusion regarding the bank being in kissimmee is that the bank's mailing address is Kissimmee. Karen 19:05, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, as the story was happening, breaking, all sources initially said Kissimmee. No specific city was stated at the time. Hint: thats why I put expand. DragonFire1024 5:52 PM (EST)

I just happen to know the area a bit - locals lament that tourists think Walt Disney World is in Orlando, or Kissimmee - when in fact those cities are 15 and 11 miles away, respectively. Some hotels in the area have Orlando postal addresses and some Kissimmee. When you book a hotel, you have to specifically ask "How far are you from Walt Disney World?". I found the address of the bank from the November 16 police report (which also says 'in Kissimmee') then made sure exactly what was nearby. Karen 02:05, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
