Original Reporting notes

Attended.

Arrived approximately 17:45 at top of the Lawnmarket (See here). Photographed Police bikes sitting in Johnston Terrace. Officers were chatting with customers outside the bars, restaurants.

Pretty crowded getting on to the Esplanade, past the police van, and closer to the Castle. That was pretty far up the Esplanade.

Took a while to get scrum-side of the "Anonymous Scotland" banner. The crowd, at that point also surrounding the banner, was fairly close-packed in the bottom half-to-two-thirds of the Esplanade. Although, it did thin out somewhat towards the edges.

Caught the front of the march just getting ready to leave, then went slightly ahead to watch the first quarter of the crowd go past.

Got ahead of the crowd several times on the way down the High Street. Pretty unmistakably Scottish, and from the steps of The Tron Kirk I couldn't see the back end of the procession.

Yes, there was the protest element; but most people were there to enjoy themselves too.
