Talk:Drug, alcohol, tobacco abuse rising among California teens

Latest comment: 17 years ago by Gumboyaya in topic wording?

It is interesting to note that California has some of the strictest laws concerning drugs, alcohol, and tobacco:

  • It has its own mini Controlled Substances Act.
  • It has its own drug analog act, going into detail about what is classified as a controlled substance analog.
  • Ninety-five percent Ethanol cannot be purchased unless it is denatured.
  • The spores of various mushroom strains are illegal to have, although every other state except GA has no such restrictions.
  • No one is allowed to smoke in any building

Good article, I'm glad you brought that up. Andresv 00:19, 28 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

It seems reasonable to publish this story then. I've even made it the second lead. Karen ratio

wording? edit

Whilst reading this article, I "stumbled" across the following sentence: "Those who had used marijuana in the past year rose from 14.11 percent of 14.6 percent over the period."

Help a non-native speaker, and tell me, whether the part "... 14.11 p. of 14.6 p. ..." is properly formulated concerning grammar. I wouldn´t have chosen such a wording, but as I mentioned, I´m not a native speaker of English. Thanks Gumboyaya 08:52, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I believe "to" is the word to go with here. --Deprifry|+T+ 08:55, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yip, quite obvious actually, but I read and reread, and could only figure out, that the sentence didn´t "taste" well.
