Operator

edit

I think this story needs to put more emphasis on the operator who blatantly ignored the boy's request and didn't take the case seriously. 209.175.88.10 17:21, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

That would violate our NPOV policy at WN:NPOV. Jason Safoutin 17:23, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't know about violating policy, but there just isn't enough information about the operator to make the story only about the operator's possible criminal negligence. When the details come out, that could be another story. Any speculation at this time is against policy. Featured?

edit

Excuse me, but why is this a featured story?? To prove that wikinews works just like the commercial news industry? Because it has drama, tears, death and cops?

Isn't there something actually important to feature on the english main page?

Really, should I crave for this kind of 'news' then all I have to do is watch U.S. television!!!

Or am I getting this all wrong??

thank you, Chic happens 00:02, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Anyone can put a story in the featured story section. I'm sure someone thought it was worthy of that. Often our featured stories include good writing, a compelling storyline, or news of international import. They don't need to, though. Some people, I'm sure, will consider it important news and want to know about it - we shouldn't stop it from being featured. Lyellin 01:46, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
What you need to ask yourself when you see a story that doesn't seem like it would be a story featured, is "What other story should be featured?". Then make the edit. Karen 05:35, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
It is featured because industrialized world depends on public services. If the trust in ambulance, police and fire services is destroyed the urban society may fall apart. Here in Hungary there was a similar case two years ago. A man fell on icy steps and hit his head. The ambulance coordinator ignored the 7 year old son's calls for several hours and the man died unnecessarily. I hope the responsible get sent to prison. 195.70.32.136 09:06, 14 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
