Talk:Chinese researchers crack major U.S. government algorithm used in digital signatures

I just changed the title of this article from this: "Chinese researchers crack major security code used in U.S. government digital signatures"

The old title is wrong for two reasons:

  • SHA-1 is not a "code." It is an algorithm. There is no encryption involved, so "code" is not correct.
  • The algorithm was created by the U.S. government, but it is used by the whole world in digital signatures. Thus, "in U.S. government digital signatures" is wrong.

edit

The fact that the cryptanalysts are female is fairly notable, so I put it back in. -- IlyaHaykinson 03:47, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
